Vera West wrote a novel -in-verse. Loved this book. Elijah Bennet was perfectly content with his life and running the family's pizzeria until Darcy Fitzgerald walked into Pizza Palace. She may have only ordered a slice of pie, but she pulls Elijah into a whirlwind of unexpected attraction. As their relationship heats up, Elijah finds himself daring to want more than he ever has before. Worlds collide and pepperonis fly as he is forced to decide if love is truly all a person needs to be happy.

I'm smiling at the FMC's name. I imagine it could be a play on Fitzwilliam Darcy. Is she full of pride and prejudice?

Top two favorite writers: Ann Patchett and Elizabeth Strout (I think Strout is Patchett's as well) I'm all in on "Whistler.)

What's been your favorite Patchett so far? I loved State of Wonder.

I LOVED State of Wonder as well..But MAYBE Dutch House? Although, the one that no one talks about--Commonwealth--is another one of my favorites. I need to revisit Bel Canto--which I read 1000 years ago.

May was Asian-American/Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander month so all the books I read were by Asian-American authors. Looking forward to Whistler (I love protagonists my age!) and Daughters of the Sun and Moon!

Which was your favorite this May? I love deeply reading along a theme, culture, or idea.

For fiction it was Pachinko by Min Jin Lee. For memoir/cultural criticism it was Fetishized: A Reckoning with Yellow Fever, Feminism, and Beauty by Kaila Yu. And for history was American Peril: The Violent History of Anti-Asian Racism.

Great list! Catherine Cho's debut, The Devoted (released next month), has Pachinko vibes in case you want more :)
